We have compiled a global ocean database of dissolved neon, argon, and krypton measurements, supplemented by helium, xenon, and nitrogen/argon (N2/Ar) ratios in some locations. Microbiology sampling were conducted during special CARIACO cruises (distinct from the monthly, core sampling, time-series cruises) from November 1995 to November 2015. The specialized microbiology cruises were usually during May and November, and could be opportunistic or process-driven. There were typically at least 2 cruises per year, during which different variables were sampled and at different depths from the standard monthly CARIACO cruises. Samples were collected using a 12-bottle trace metal clean CTD (Conductivity, Temperature and Depth) rosette, and were kept clean by using acid washed tubing to collect water directly into acid-washed 1 L PTFE bottles. This dataset represents a global compilation of phosphate measured using high-sensitivity methods including magnesium induced precipitation (MAGIC), liquid waveguide cell (LWCC), and solid phase extraction (SPE) methods. We compiled data from 42 major cruises covering all oligotrophic regions using high-sensitivity P measurements. The dataset covered a total of 50591 samples including 41747 samples from the upper 30 m. The compilations revealed several previously unrecognized low-P areas and clear regional biases. The database holds 476,000 quantitative, categorical, presence-absence and presence only records of gelatinous zooplankton spanning the past four centuries (1790-2011) assembled from a variety of published and unpublished sources. Gelatinous zooplankton data are reported to species level, where identified, but taxonomic information on phylum, family and order are reported for all records. Other auxiliary metadata, such as physical, environmental and biometric information relating to the gelatinous zooplankton metadata, are included with each respective entry. JeDI has been developed and designed as an open access research tool for the scientific community to quantitatively define the global baseline of gelatinous zooplankton populations and to describe long-term and large-scale trends in gelatinous zooplankton populations and blooms. Palmer Cruise 01-03:\\r\\n\\r\\n2.0 Drifter Measurements (Bob Beardsley and Dick Limeburner)\\r\\nSurface drifters are being deployed and tracked via satellite to study the near surface Lagrangian currents in the SO GLOBEC study area on the western Antarctic Peninsula Shelf. Each drifter has a small (~ 30 cm diameter) surface float with ARGOS transmitter and batteries tethered to a holey sock drogue centered at 15 m below the surface. The drogue, about 10 m tall and 1 m in diameter, is designed to \\lock\\ itself to the water so that the surface float follows the mean water motion at 15 m depth with very little slippage even in high winds. Monthly cruises were conducted to the CARIACO station (10.50\\u00b0 N, 64.67\\u00b0 W) onboard the R/V Hermano Gin\\u00e9s of the Fundaci\\u00f3n La Salle de Ciencias Naturales de Venezuela. During each cruise, a minimum of four hydrocasts were performed to collect a suite of core monthly observations. We conducted separate shallow and deep casts to obtain a better vertical resolution of in-situ Niskin-bottles samples for chemical observations, and for productivity, phytoplankton, and pigment observations. One CTD composite profile was created for each cruise by stitching together the sections of the different cruise's CTD profiles at the depth interval where water samples were obtained. Throughout the CARIACO time-series, High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) data was analyzed by four different laboratories: Bermuda Biological Research Station; Mote Marine Laboratory; Horn Point Laboratory; and NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. This package contains the data analyzed at Horn Point Laboratory, covering cruises CAR-124 to CAR-175 from 2006-07-04 to 2010-12-08. Some of the parameters analyzed were different along time and along the different laboratories. To keep the continuity of the HPLC time-series analyzed by different laboratories, all the HPLC files have the same units and contain the same number and order of columns/parameters (with \\u201cnd\\u201d to indicate when a parameter was no determined). They are screened for errors and processed to 2-dbar averages. The majority of the sampling effort, approximately 60-72 h per standard HOT cruise, is spent at Station ALOHA. High vertical resolution environmental data are collected with a Sea-Bird CTD having external temperature (T), conductivity (C), dissolved oxygen (DO) and fluorescence (F) sensors and an internal pressure (P) sensor. A Sea-Bird 24-place carousel and an aluminum rosette that is capable of supporting 24 12-L PVC bottles are used to obtain water samples from desired depths. This depression, located on the continental shelf of Venezuela, shows marked seasonal and interannual variation in hydrographic properties and primary production (carbon fixation rates by photosynthesis of planktonic algae).\\r\\n\\r\\nZooplankton sampling was done during each CARIACO time-series cruise from October 2001 to January 2017 (cruises CAR071 - CAR232). Oblique BONGO net tow samples from 200 m to the surface were analyzed to determine biomass (dry weight and ash content) and taxonomic composition.
