The rate of Ulva sp. consumption by the two sea urchins, Lytechinus semituberculatus and Eucidaris galapagensis was measured at 10 temperatures: 14°, 16°, 18°, 20°, 22°, 24°, 26°, 28°, 30°, 32°C. L. semituberculatus (green urchin), E. galapaguensis (pencil urchin) and T. depressus (white urchin) are the three most common species in the Galapagos Islands and together make up 91% of the sea urchin biomass. Ulva sp. was used as the prey item because it is one of the most abundant macroalgal species, together with turf, encrusting coralline algae and Sargassum near the Galapagos and coast and because it is highly palatable for herbivores.

cdm_data_type = Other
VARIABLES:
Mesocosm (unitless)
Species (unitless)
Temperature (degrees Celsius)
Grazing (unitless)
| https://erddap.bco-dmo.org/erddap/info/bcodmo_dataset_775500/index.htmlTable | https://www.bco-dmo.org/dataset/775500![]() | https://erddap.bco-dmo.org/erddap/rss/bcodmo_dataset_775500.rss | https://erddap.bco-dmo.org/erddap/subscriptions/add.html?datasetID=bcodmo_dataset_775500&showErrors=false&email= | BCO-DMO | bcodmo_dataset_775500 | |||||

Dilution experiments were used to assess phytoplankton growth and microzooplankton grazing rates.

Deposition of wildfire ash on the ocean can fertilize microbial production but also has the potential to inhibit microbial growth due to heavy metal toxicity. The data collected from these field experiments can contribute to elevating understanding of wildfire-driven material transfer from the terrestrial system to the ocean and its impact on carbon and energy flow in marine food webs. These data were collected by Dr. Nicholas Baetge, Dr. Jason Graff, Dr. Allen Milligan, Brian Ver Wey, and Parker Hansen of Oregon State University.

cdm_data_type = Other
VARIABLES:
stn (unitless)
latitude (degrees_north)
longitude (degrees_east)
time (Dt, seconds since 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z)
trt (unitless)
phyto (unitless)
division (per day (1/d))
sd_division (per day (1/d))
grazing (per day (1/d))
sd_grazing (per day (1/d))
accumulation (per day (1/d))
sd_accumulation (per day (1/d))
| https://erddap.bco-dmo.org/erddap/metadata/fgdc/xml/bcodmo_dataset_953007_v1_fgdc.xml | https://erddap.bco-dmo.org/erddap/metadata/iso19115/xml/bcodmo_dataset_953007_v1_iso19115.xml | https://erddap.bco-dmo.org/erddap/info/bcodmo_dataset_953007_v1/index.htmlTable | https://www.bco-dmo.org/dataset/953007![]() | https://erddap.bco-dmo.org/erddap/rss/bcodmo_dataset_953007_v1.rss | https://erddap.bco-dmo.org/erddap/subscriptions/add.html?datasetID=bcodmo_dataset_953007_v1&showErrors=false&email= | BCO-DMO | bcodmo_dataset_953007_v1 |
