It also lists the method used to sample, either by a scrape collection or by a visual count along a swath.\n\ncdm_data_type = Other\nVARIABLES:\nTaxon (unitless)\nKingdom (unitless)\nPhylum (unitless)\nClass (unitless)\nOrder_Subclass (unitless)\nFamily (unitless)\nGenus (unitless)\nSpecies (unitless)\nSampling_method (unitless)\n https://erddap.bco-dmo.org/erddap/info/bcodmo_dataset_728110/index.htmlTable https://www.bco-dmo.org/dataset/728110 (external link) https://erddap.bco-dmo.org/erddap/rss/bcodmo_dataset_728110.rss https://erddap.bco-dmo.org/erddap/subscriptions/add.html?datasetID=bcodmo_dataset_728110&showErrors=false&email= BCO-DMO bcodmo_dataset_728110
log in [EPR pump time series] - Larvae and suspended benthic fauna collected with a plankton pump near deep-sea hydrothermal vents at the East Pacific Rise from 1998 to 2025 (Effects of Disturbance and Larval Supply on Communities at Hydrothermal Vents) This dataset provides the counts for larvae and some later life stage benthic fauna, identified to varying levels of taxonomic granularity, collected with a large-volume plankton pump near deep-sea hydrothermal vents on the East Pacific Rise on 13 cruises from 1998 to 2025. Sampling for this 27-year time series of larval abundance was conducted using a plankton pump (McLane WTS-LV50) filtering up to ~40 cubic meters over 63-micron mesh. Specimens were preserved in ethanol and identified morphologically under a dissecting microscope. Samples were sorted completely, thus concentrations per taxon may be derived from the counts and volume filtered. The primary data file is a single compiled table with the leftmost columns as a Darwin Core Occurrence extension table and rightmost columns from a Darwin Core Event core table; these are provided separately as two additional files formatted for the Ocean Biodiversity Information System.\n\ncdm_data_type = Other\nVARIABLES:\noccurrenceID (unitless)\nverbatimIdentification (unitless)\nindividualCount (integer count)\nscientificName (unitless)\nscientificNameID (unitless)\ntaxonRank (unitless)\nclass (unitless)\nphylum (unitless)\nkingdom (unitless)\nidentifiedBy (unitless)\noccurrenceStatus (unitless)\nbasisOfRecord (unitless)\neventID (unitless)\nsampleSizeValue (liter)\nsampleSizeUnit (unitless)\neventDate (seconds since 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z)\nverbatimEventDate (unitless)\nlocality (unitless)\n... Sampling was conducted on dives with HOV Alvin during R/V Atlantis cruise AT50-06 in December 2022 and with ROV Jason during R/V Robert Revelle cruise RR2102 in April 2021. Specimens were preserved in ethanol or fixed in formalin. Gastropods were identified morphologically to species (with genetic sequences obtained for a subset); two of the species were new to science as described by Chen et al. (2024). Counts are not comprehensive thus cannot be used for quantitative analyses. This dataset is provided in a single compiled table formatted as a Darwin Core Occurrence table for provision to the Ocean Biodiversity Information System.\n\ncdm_data_type = Other\nVARIABLES:\noccurrenceID (unitless)\nkingdom (unitless)\nverbatimIdentification (unitless)\nscientificName (unitless)\nscientificNameID (unitless)\ntaxonRank (unitless)\nidentifiedBy (unitless)\nidentificationRemarks (unitless)\nindividualCount (integer count)\nassociatedSequences (unitless)\notherCatalogNumbers (unitless)\noccurrenceStatus (unitless)\nbasisOfRecord (unitless)\nverbatimLabel (unitless)\noccurrenceRemarks (unitless)\neventID (unitless)\ntime (Eventdate, seconds since 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z)\nlocality (unitless)\nlatitude (Decimallatitude, degrees_north)\n...
