| log in | [Foraminiferal oxygen and carbon isotopes MAZ-1E-04] - Multispecies foraminiferal oxygen and carbon isotopes in the eastern Pacific through the last deglaciation determined from core MAZ-1E-04 collected on cruise MAZ-I aboard the R/V El Puma in April 2015 (Glacial-Interglacial Changes in Oxygen Minimum Zones Using Deep-Dwelling, Low-Oxygen Planktic Foraminifera) | The structure and drivers of oxygen minimum zone (OMZ) evolution in the Eastern Tropical North Pacific (ETNP) are investigated from ~20.7-10 ka using a multi-proxy from core MAZ-1E-04 (22°54.29'N, 106°54.59'W; 1463 m depth). Understanding how OMZ vertical structure changed during past glacial/interglacial cycles will help elucidate the drivers and patterns of OMZ expansion/contraction on longer timescales. \n\nHere, multispecies foraminiferal oxygen and carbon isotopes determined from core MAZ-1E-04 collected on cruise MAZ-I aboard the R/V El Puma in April 2015 are used to reconstruct OMZ vertical extent through the last deglaciation. Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México financed ship time and M. Alejandro Rodríguez Ramírez directed the oceanographic campaign to retrieve the core.\n\ncdm_data_type = Other\nVARIABLES:\nDepth_core (centimeter (cm))\nAge (years before present (ybp))\nN_dutertrei_count (unitless)\nN_dutertrei_weight (micrograms)\nN_dutertrei_d18O (per mil)\nN_dutertrei_d13C (per mil)\nUvigerina_spp_count (unitless)\nUvigerina_spp_weight (micrograms)\nUvigerina_spp_d18O (per mil)\nUvigerina_spp_d13C (per mil)\nG_ruber_count (unitless)\nG_ruber_weight (micrograms)\nG_ruber_d18O (per mil)\nG_ruber_d13C (per mil)\nG_hexagonus_count (unitless)\nG_hexagonus_weight (micrograms)\nG_hexagonus_d18O (per mil)\nG_hexagonus_d13C (per mil)\n | BCO-DMO | bcodmo_dataset_991484_v1 | ||||||||||||

Understanding how OMZ vertical structure changed during past glacial/interglacial cycles will help elucidate the drivers and patterns of OMZ expansion/contraction on longer timescales. \n\nHere, Iodine:Calcium ratios are used from planktic foraminifera N. dutertrei from core MAZ-1E-04 collected on cruise MAZ-I aboard the R/V El Puma in April 2015 to identify periods of low oxygen within the thermocline.
