attribute NC_GLOBAL summary String This dataset includes seawater radioisotope (234Th) and particulate organic carbon (POC) data collected at the Compass Station in Bedford Basin, Nova Scotia, Canada at six time periods between 2021 and 2024. Niskin bottles (2 to 10 liters (L)) were used to obtain the water samples. Two liters of water were used for total 234Th. In situ pumps (McLane Laboratories) were also deployed to pump ~30 L of water and collect samples for particulate 234Th and POC. Two in-line filters were used: >51 micrometers (µm) (large particle fraction) and ~1 µm (small particle fraction). Filters were analyzed via non-destructive beta counting (234Th) and then for carbon content.
