Palmer in the Southern Ocean from 11 September 2016 to 10 October 2016.
This project investigates the impact of Fe-binding humic-like substances on Fe biogeochemistry near the West Antarctic Peninsula and Drake Passage. The project used depth profile samples to characterize the contributions of humic-like substances to Fe biogeochemistry across gradients in Fe, water masses, and primary productivity in the Southern Ocean. Understanding the distributions of Fe-binding humic-like substances provides insight into their contribution to Fe stabilization and helps elucidate specific sources of these ligands.";
